I remember about six months ago my sister came to visit (she is a die-hard dub married to a Super Elder) and my daughter was going through the throes of the terrible twos. So I have my hands full and I am doing the time outs and so on and I catch this look on my sisters face. So I ask her what she's thinking and she tells me that my methods are a joke and that my child is going to end up being a monster. So I say, what should I do with her instead, I ask, what did you do with your two boys (her sons are both grown and at Bethel which is a whole nother story). She replies and I quote "we beat them" when they acted up. Not paddled, not spanked but the word "beat". I just sort of looked at her funny and said like "uh huh" and carried on while another piece of the puzzle about her family and why her boys are the way they are fell into place.

they were telling me about disciplining children... the speaker was saying how all babies are born selfish and demanding for their own needs and not anyone elses.
the jist of the talk being about discipline, and training children ...ie taking them out for a good beating.. well, i don't know if any of you have ever 'just seen red!

Gill, that's just a terrible memory to have. Nothing turns my stomach and breaks my heart more than to see a child brutalized. Its always the children that seem to pay for the adults follies.

Gill, that has been my rant on many a related thread, the WBTS's total disdain for children, if not outright hatred. Children are fodder for the organization, to be broken like horses and made to pull the plow for the society.
Children are born totally innocent, its the adults that fill them up with baggage they will someday have to deal with. If anything its the adults that could use the beatings, if the GB needs someone to do it I'd be happy to give them a sample of their own medicine.

Somehow I missed out on the memo about dating only being for marriage, I thought it was cool as long it was with someone from the hall. Well, I got pulled aside and had things explained to me. At that point I was already sneaking around playing football on the sly (man, talk about some complicated manuevering on that one, but I had always been a good kid so they believed the outrageous lies) so the next logical step was dating on the sly. Even at 15 I realized that the whole thing was jacked and that cheerleader at the games that kept scoping me out bore further inspection. Got a taste of the "wordly" girls and never looked back.

i have been practically obsessed with this board since i discovered it, and i give everyone here credit for helping my husband and i leave the borg.
i had been in 11 years, and my husband 27 years, along with our 3 small children.
